Mancura - Chile
As a winery, Mancura is conscious of both its heritage and what it represents. The name Etnia is relevant to several ancestral ethnic groups of Latin America including Mapuches, Aymaras, Quechuas and the Incas. The brand name pays homage to the Mancura – the largest bird on the planet and one with immense cultural significance in the region. It has been considered since pre-Columbian cultures as a guardian of the crops, keeping watch from the skies.
The Mancura vineyards are located in the central valleys of Casablanca, Maipo, Cachapoal, Curicó and Maule. The combination of a temperate Mediterranean climate with Chile’s specific geographical characteristics makes these valleys an ideal place to grow a wide range of grapes using environmentally friendly viticultural practices. In keeping with this rich cultural heritage, celebrated Winemaker Jorge Martínez has created an excellent range of modern and exciting Chilean wines which bring out the characteristics of the terroir and still allow room for experimentation.
